One look and he knew it was a long shot.
Ryan King is a movie star with a secret. Women fall at his feet for a chance, but that’s never been what he wanted. Broken hearted after helping his closest friend claim the love of his life, Ryan is searching for a distraction. One who can keep his secret.
Shannon O’Neil’s life has changed drastically in the last few years. He served as a Navy SEAL to escape his father’s scrutiny, but an injury forced him to reevaluate his choices. Now he runs a successful security firm. One that recently took a consulting job to train a group of actors for an upcoming movie.
The attraction is immediate but long-distance relationships have never worked for either. Still, they want to try. Navigating through their own family drama, and Ryan’s shooting schedule may prove too much of a burden.

I Heart Books Review

The Long Shot (Love Behind The Scenes #2) by Brandy L Rivers
Review by Theresa Esterline
Stars: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

You'll never know if you don't ask...

Ask for what you want. This has become my new motto of late and is exactly what Ryan and Shannon do in the second book in the series. There is passion, suspense, betrayal... you won't want to miss it. This is an MM romance though, I know some readers like to know upfront. I enjoyed reading the two strong masculine hero's... even they freak out sometimes. And now a bit about the story...

Ryan still isn't ready to come out, but when he meets Shannon everything changes. That is until family gets in the way. Ryan's mom thinks he can just switch to straight like it's a switch. Shannon's family doesn't understand why he won't pick a woman since he's bisexual. Then there is his dying father who disowned him when he was injured and took an honorable discharge from the SEALs at the same time he came out. Still the two are thrown together for training and can't resist. But soon their pasts threaten to tear them apart...

Favorite passages:
- “Yeah, sure, fine. Tell me when.” Never fucking thirty sounded good, but he climbed out of bed and grabbed his clothes.
- “You should. If it bothers you, say it. Even if it’s momentary. I’m not going to be pissed off if you ask. I’d rather talk about it than let it fester.”

Note: I was given a free copy and voluntarily chose to review this book.
