Synopsis:
Tasha Skinner finally shed the baggage of a failed marriage. Now, she’s looking forward to a night of margaritas and man-bashing. Tasha’s friends have other plans, including Leather, Lace and liberation.
Dylan Caprese didn’t want to go to Marquee, but he and his friends were on a mission. They took it upon themselves to make sure things didn’t get out of hand when wannabe Doms mixed alcohol with playtime at the monthly Leather and Lace night.
From the moment he set eyes on Tasha, he knew there was something different about her. She wasn’t some bondage babe who thought she knew what it meant to be into BDSM. She was much, much worse; she was innocent and trusting. He can tell she is something precious.
When Tasha’s past threatens to destroy her, Dylan begins to realize that while their paths have never crossed, their lives most definitely have. Will he be able to save her before it’s too late?

Review of Unexpected Angel by Sloan Johnson

Have you ever had a night out with friends where you end up meeting a man who seems to understand you from the moment you met? Have you met a man who wants more from you but is willing to patiently wait until you get comfortable with his needs?
Unexpected Angel deals with themes of dominance, control, submission and trust. A work of fiction, this book has mature themes and situations.
Tasha Skinner is finally ready to say good bye to a failed marriage. Looking forward to a night out with friends, little did she know that her friends had other plans, including a night of celebrating her divorce at a Leather and Lace party. Held at the Marquee, she meets Dylan Caprese, businessman and dominant. The attraction between them is immediate. Tasha’s innocence and trusting nature tells Dylan that Tasha is not the usual person that the Marquee attracts. He feels possessive and very protective of her, a fact of which she enjoys one moment, then hates the next. When Tasha attracts a stalker, will Dylan be able to protect her and keep her safe?
Unexpected Angel is billed as a story that deals with dominance, control and submission. These themes were lightly touched on in the story in terms of physical activity. s What Unexpected Angel really deals with is trust – Tasha learning how to trust again so she can open herself up to another relationship and Dylan learning how to trust his instincts when it comes to Tasha; Tasha learning to trust that Dylan only has her best interests at heart, and Tasha learning how to trust new friends.
Dylan is the type of dominant that truly looks out for his partner. He is not abusive, disrespectful nor sadistic. He is definitely the dominant personality, but Tasha is able to hold her own against him. She knows when to push back and stand up for herself, and when to fold and allow the dominant Dylan to take over. I loved that Dylan is patient with Tasha – knowing when and how to introduce her to some of his preferences.
I also loved that Dylan is the first hero who does not have a mop of curly, bronze, untamed hair. I have found a shaved head, toned muscles, sculpted abs and some ink a very very attractive package.
In the end, Unexpected Angel, met most of what I had expected from the book – there is heat, seduction, attraction, giving and taking. I would have loved a bit more of the dominant Dylan to show up, but the organic way that their relationship developed with trips to the ballpark, hanging out with friends, and nights out is so natural, so normal that makes their story very relatable.
