I HEART BOOKS REVIEW

Lady and the Pack by R.A. Boyd
Review by Jennifer Ballam
Stars: 3

The premise of this book was a good one, and indeed, it had great potential. For me though this potential wasn't quite reached, I'm not 100% sure why and I'll try and explain my reasoning.

The language/phrases used may not be ‘got’ by many readers, I myself cringed at a few of the phrases used, and this, for me anyway, made it hard to connect with the characters. I loved the male lead but for me he wasn't developed enough, I think this could have been helped by having more of the developing relationship included it the story.

I find reviews like this hard to do as I don't want to give away any of the story but feel I need to explain my reasoning. I will say that the ending did pick up its pace and I enjoyed it but the dream world the heroine enters (I can't explain further or I'll give away elements of the book) was confusing for me. I think this might be due to being thrown in to the dream with little explanation.

All in all it was a good read with immense potential. The characters, if developed more, I feel could be great and the story which is a different take on shifters which could be interesting. I'm intrigued to see where the author will go with this.
