Contemporary Romance

About Going Down on One Knee:

Mile High Matched, Book 1   "An utterly charming opposites-attract-story. Hovland perfectly balances simmering sexual tension with a surprising amount of emotion, and the stomach-flip-causing ending is the perfect example of why I read and love romance." - New York Times Bestselling Author, Lauren Layne Number-crunching Velma Johnson's perfectly planned life is right on course. That's a lie. Sure, she's got the lucrative job. She's got the posh apartment. But her sister nabbed Velma's Mr. Right. There has to be a man out there for Velma. Hopefully, one who's hunky, wears pressed suits, and has a diversified financial portfolio. He'll be exactly like, well... her sister's new fiancé. Badass biker Brek Montgomery blazes a trail across the country, managing Dimefront, one of the biggest rock bands of his generation. With the band on hiatus, Brek rolls into Denver to pay a quick visit to his family and friends. But when Brek's sister suddenly gets put on bed rest, she convinces Brek to take over her wedding planning business for the duration of her pregnancy. Staying in Denver and dealing with bridezillas was not what Brek had in mind when he passed through town, but there is one particular maid-of-honor who might make his stay worthwhile. Velma finds herself strangely attracted to the man planning her sister's wedding. Problem is, he ticks none of the boxes on her well-crafted list. Brek is rough around the edges, he cusses, and doesn't even have a 401(k). But trying something crazy might get her out of the rut of her dating life--so long as she lays down boundaries up front and sticks to her plan... Going Down on One Knee is book one of the Mile High Matched series. If you love a hunky, tattooed wedding planner this book is for you. Buy nowfor a fun, opposites attract romance!

About Take it Off the Menu:

Mile High Matched, Book 3   Saying “I Do” has never been such a mess. Marlee Medford just got dumped. Yes, things have become ho-hum in her longtime relationship, but she was two days away from walking down the aisle with the man she thought was her forever when he called it off. Marlee needs to regain control of her life, and a weekend away with her friends is a solid first step. As if to prove his point that they aren’t worth the trouble, the wedding he was supposed to be catering just fell apart. Feeling oddly protective of the jilted bride—his little sister’s best friend—his weekend plans now involve a trip to Sin City with her group of friends. But it looks like he had a bit too much fun in Vegas when he wakes up married…wedding night included. Marlee’s attempts at getting her life back together are failing miserably. Her ex-fiancé is taking the house, her chihuahua is intent on a love affair with Eli’s sneakers, and she’s now accidentally hitched to the guy who can't even say the word marriage. With their quickie annulment denied, Eli and Marlee just have to hang tight until the divorce goes through. It’s just a little divorce amongst friends, what’s the worst that could happen? Exclusive Excerpt:

“You catching that?” Jase asked, his focus returning to the poster and the tape. “Catching what?” Heather replied. Poster in hand, he moved to the front window and pressed it against the glass, smoothing it before turning back to her. “Catching the little buzz we have going on between us.” “A little… the thing is…” C’mon Heather, be strong. You are the cookie lady now. You don’t date. You are all you need. That’s what the podcast she’d been listening to said to her over and over again. Mantra in hand, she slapped on her I’m-in-charge-here-buddy mask. “It would never work between us.” The edges of his lips ticked up ever so slightly. “You can’t know that.” Oh, she knew. He sauntered toward her. Unwilling to back down, she stepped toward him. Expression firm, she said, “I can already see exactly how this whole thing would play out if we let it. You’d start with a horrible pick up line.” “Guilty.” His hands fell to the belt loops of his jeans. Her palm itched to press against the front of his tee, but she refrained. “Then I’d counter with a witty response. This time my reply would be even better. Funny, intelligent…everything.” “Now, that I’d like to hear.” Nothing but a foot of crackling air sizzled between them. “Trust me, if I had said it, it would have been epic. You can’t repeat something like that. It has to happen in the moment.” She shook her head, the sleek ponytail she’d carefully arranged earlier brushing against the collar of her jacket. “That right there is why we wouldn’t have worked out. I mean you couldn’t even come up with a snappier reply.” He crossed his arms, the little veins of his muscled forearms flexing with the motion. “Oh, I would’ve. It would’ve been the best response in the history of pick-up line replies.” “I don’t believe you.” The glimmer in his eyes lit up his entire face. He was clearly enjoying this exchange entirely too much. Control. She needed the power back. “Trust would’ve always been one of your issues in our relationship.” “Maybe you just couldn’t be honest with me about how you felt. That’s probably why we would have always argued.” He raised his eyebrows in a clear ultimatum. Challenge accepted. She stepped the tiniest bit closer to him. “Let’s say you threw out that awful line again. The one about taking me out.” “I’m with you so far.” He glanced down to the floor in clear acknowledgment of her movement forward, but he held his ground. “We’d banter for a good bit—” His face sparked with humor. “Sounds about right.” “Both of us would get that tingly feeling of attraction. You know the one.” So maybe she made her voice a little breathier than usual. Sue her. His mouth parted, the exaggerated fullness of his lower lip apparent. “You have a tingly feeling?” She shook her head and raised a hand. Not touching his chest like she desperately wanted to but getting within millimeters. “That’s not the important part. Eventually you would convince me to go on a date.” “I’d take you to this great taco stand. I love tacos.” “Despite that, I’d probably let you take me out again. And again,” she said, not willing to acknowledge the way she wanted to nip at his lip with her teeth. He nodded. “I’m digging this relationship so far.” “Eventually, you’d ask me to move in. I’d say no. You’d pressure me, even though I wouldn’t be ready.” “What can I say? I wouldn’t want to spend a night away from you. No use paying for two apartments.” She shrugged, dropping her hand. “I’d cave, and we’d finally move in together—” “Do we get to hook up first? Don’t skip that part.” This time he moved forward. Not a lot, just a smidge. She stayed put. She refused to back up first. “Of course. It would be awful. Sorry Speed Racer, but I need more than three minutes of go-time.” “That’s not what you’d say after you screamed my name.” He leaned forward, the whisper of his words brushing against her ear. God, there wasn’t but a breath of space between them. She was all turned-on Heather, ready to throw her why-have-a-man-when-you-can-have-cookies resolve away. His breath smelled of cinnamon candy and coffee, turning her knees effectively to melted butter. No, she stopped herself. Back to the break-up at hand.

Title: Hammered
Authors: Pippa Grant & Lili Valente
Genre: Romantic Comedy
 Release Date: May 28, 2019

Blurb

I didn’t mean to kidnap the groom.

It was an accident.

Mostly...

At least I didn't take much time to plan it. It was more of a spur of the moment kidnapping. Does that count?

One minute, the town’s bad boy is standing at the altar about to marry the world’s most evil kindergarten teacher. The next, he’s passed out in my Vespa sidecar with his bride hot on our tail.

But I didn't have a choice! I couldn't stand by and watch Jace O’Dell be blackmailed into a loveless marriage. And besides, what’s a little kidnapping between friends?

Okay, so maybe we’re not just friends...

And maybe I can’t quit thinking about that night at his bar when he closed up early and had me on the rocks.

And maybe this crazy stunt is going to blow up in both of our faces.

If it does, I’m blaming the moonshine.

Even though the only thing I’m hammered on when it comes to Jace is love—straight up, no chaser.

Hammered (Happy Cat #2) by Pippa Grant & Lili Valente
Review by Theresa Esterline
Stars: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Hedgehogs, an Alpaca, and a squirrel - oh my!

Another crazy Happy Cat mystery/romance!  In the first Happy Cat book, Hosed, we met Ryan O'Dell, Cassie, and George Cooney along with many in the town of Happy Cat.  This time, Ryan's brother, Jace, and one of Cassie's friends, Olivia are the main characters.  Between the crazy animal antics, community service and crazy weather, you are in for a treat!  And now a bit about the story...

Jace is the town bad boy, but he has turned good - he owns the local bar.  Olivia moved from Califonia to work for Savannah at the sex toy factory.  After almost killing a resident at the farmer's market, due to allegies, Liv is beside her self.  Until they get a little drunk on Dr. Pepper and finally figure out how good they can be together.  Then they find a magical stuffed squirrel, a hedgehog, and things start to get a little crazy.  Then through in a pregnant ex!

Favorite passage: Denial is what grown-ups do. They deny themselves permission to do things that are bad for them and force themselves to make reasonable choices. I eat kale at least twice a week, even though it tastes like stir-fried butt grass.

Stars: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Fires, Dildos, and a pet raccoon, Oh My!

This is the most hilarious, stop reading to laugh out loud book I've read this year! Granted it is still early, but I would even say in the last year!!! It has a great cast of unusual characters: sexy fireman with a pet raccoon, sleazy ex husband who likes sheep too much, shy computer programmer turned sex toy factory operator, and so many more!!! I hope you enjoy this and laugh as much as I did! In addition to the humor there is also steamy sex scenes and a mystery to solve. And now a bit about the story...

Cassie's sister needed a break from life and asked her to come run her sex toy factory for her. Being the good person she is Cassie readily agreed. Even though she is extremely shy, oh and still a virgin. She's trying her best to get used to her new environment. Ryan is the hot fireman who slows up to the first fire. She remembers him from her high school crush. And here she is riding to work late on her sister's bicycle, complete with dildo handle bars! She can't stop blushing! Later after an encounter with a raccoon, George Clooney, wearing anal beads and chewing on penis suckers she learns Ryan is her neighbor. The three join forces to find the person sabotaging the factory.

Favorite passages:
- “I don’t think dildos have life goals, but I see your point.”
- If any of the town prudes hear that we’re spreading Satan’s sex juice all over innocent children’s sno-cones, we’ll get investigated by the health department.
- I’m a code squirrel who lurks in my cozy den until my portion of the project is complete before emerging to troubleshoot with the other squirrels.
- Fear never got me anywhere I want to be.
- “I’ll never be Team Sex Toy Factory, but I’m Team Cassie,”
- She inches toward me. “Are your humans safe?” “Of course. I trained them myself.” I puff out my chest. “They’ve had all their shots and they’re so docile, I even let them sleep in my bed with me.”

Blurb

Remember that time you accidentally sexted your in-laws?

Yeah. I just did that. Except worse. Now my million social media followers are reading and sharing the rude, smartass message I meant to send privately to my little sister...and I’m officially public enemy number one.

I’m Beck Ryder. Former boy bander. Underwear model. Fashion mogul. And I just buried my entire leg in my mouth—not just my foot—modern internet style, and publicly insulted my sister’s neighbor.

Sarah Dempsey.

Also known as the woman of my dreams, who loves geeky TV shows, baseball, and giraffes, who’s just as turned on by food as I am, and who has a huge secret that I didn’t see coming.

Now it's time to grovel and apologize publicly on social media and hope that those same followers who helped start the raging shitstorm will help calm the waters.

Because Sarah doesn’t want the spotlight. For very good reasons that I can’t tell you right now and trying to convince her to be my fake girlfriend to fix this mess and make me look like less of a jackass is worse than taking a kick to the nuts by Jackie Chan.

And I thought modeling underwear made me feel naked.

Trying to start a relationship in the era of the twitterazzi isn’t all that it’s cracked up to be.

America’s Geekheart is a rockin’ fun romantic comedy featuring a billionaire fashion mogul who got his start modeling underwear, the geeky girl next door with a secret the size of California, and more superstitions and secrets than you can shake a baseball bat at. It stands alone with no cheating or cliffhangers.

Type message, read message (twice) and post!

When you are building something you always, measure twice, cut once -- but with online typing, we are all so quick to just send!!  Yet another hilarious and lovable couple.  Pippa doesn't disappoint!  Our heroine's a geek and the hero's an underwear model.  What could they have in common?  Turns out lots!  Of course they never would have met if it hadn't been for his lack of social media skills!  And now a bit about the story...

Sarah, an environmental engineer, gets a very public tweet about her uterus and lack of kids from Beck, a sexy underwear model.  Turns out it was all a mistake, but the world isn't sure they believe it.  The problem is, Beck was about to enter into a partnership to benefit the kids, but now his partner isn't sure it is a good idea.  He and his team pull out all the stops, and cause a few unexpected surprises.   I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!!

Favorite Passages:
 - "Didn't recognize you with your clothes on."
 - "You're not going to keep a man like Beck Ryder happy with hair like that for long."  "He likes picking the bugs out of it."
 - "Oh my god, it sounded like you were summoning a popcorn demon."
 - "Well, yeah.  Nepotism's important."
 - But when she beams at me, I get the feeling I could leap onto the table and do the MC Hammer dance naked and she'd think I was still just utterly perfect.

I don’t date alpha males.
Especially not alpha males with egos the size of Jupiter, who also happen to be my boss’s big brother.

Deacon Hunter is domineering. Condescending. Infuriating.

And yet I can’t seem to keep my panties on for five minutes when we’re alone together.

He keeps melting them right off. With that sexy voice, those confident hands, the way he brings my body wildly to life, he’s proved my libido hasn’t gone into permanent, post-divorce hibernation after all.

Surely there’s no harm in being enemies with benefits… Right?

When Violet Boden asks me to take her Divorce Virginity, the only thing I can think is—come again?

No, seriously, come again.

And again and again, until both of us are so satisfied we can’t remember the people who did us wrong.

Best if we keep conversation to a minimum, though, considering I drive her crazy. She drives me crazy sometimes, too. But she’s also sweet, loyal, fearless, and so much fun she’s making it damn hard not to fall for her.

But how to convince a woman who’s put me in the emotional no-fly zone that I deserve a place in her heart?

The Panty Melter by Lili Valente
Review by Theresa Esterline
Stars: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

First Impressions gone awry plus a few surprises!!

This one is hot enough to melt your panties right off!  As the title says the first impressions aren't quite right and then there are several surprises thrown in - I had no idea.  I knew something was coming... but would have never guessed it!  There is passion, humor, muscles, vegans, and maybe endangered species?  And now a bit about the story...

Violet works at the animal rescue and her boss' brother, Deacon, is back and more stubborn than ever.  He is handsome, but he is so set in his ways and strict.  Violet is crazy and flies by the seat of her pants.  They are so opposite, but they do attract.  But you'll never guess what might drive them apart!

Favorite passage:
 - To show her how good it’s going to feel when we stop fucking with words and make touch our primary mode of communication.
 - “I’ll try anything once. Twice if there’s a beautiful woman involved.”
 - The man is so bossy he can even turn questions into orders.
 - “Or I’ll make a massaged raw kale salad, just rub sesame oil into the leaves with my hands and garnish with—“  “Stop,” she says, breath rushing out across my lips. “You’re going to get me all worked up, and I’ll embarrass myself in front of the veggies.”
 - “It’s not about the start, it’s about the finish,”

FLIRTING WITH THE FRENEMY BY PIPPA GRANT
REVIEW BY THERESA ESTERLINE
STARS: 5

HE'S ONE HELL OF A SHRIVELPUSS!! ;)

Hilarious romantic comedy staring Wyatt, the older brother's best friend, and Ellie, his younger pesterful tomboy sister.  Fast forward several years and the older brother's best friend is now an even hotter and sexy military pilot and single dad.  And now a bit about the story...

After Ellie's boyfriend breaks up with her just before Christmas she ends up in her parents basement, where Wyatt just so happens to also be crashing.  One thing leads to another and they are quickly naked, but it goes south as fast as it heated up.  After several months the two are thrown together again, and they more towards the flames again faster than either can believe.  Only question is will the soar or burn down????

Favorite passages:
 - “Sometimes you just have to live life.”
 - “Speaking of,” she replies, just as soft, “we can’t have sex anymore. It’s too dangerous.” That’s a challenge if I ever heard one. “We’ll discuss this in bed tonight.”
 - “C’mon, Miss Captain Ellie. I’m gonna be a real man too,” and even the Blond Caveman’s girlfriend cracks up.
 - “I’m being shrivelpuss,” he informs me. “Chivalrous,” Wyatt corrects with a grin.
