Stephanie took in his nauseous expression, feeling guilty that she hadn’t noticed how tense he was. Shifting in her chair, she grinned when he gripped the bar again, the whitening of his knuckles revealing his fear.
Taking a deep breath, she cupped his face in her hands, bringing his mouth down onto hers for what was supposed be a gentle kiss; a kiss to make him forget his fear of heights and to thank him for sharing this moment with her. Instead, as soon as his lips touched hers, her whole body ignited into flames and she forgot about everything except the feel of his mouth on hers. When their mouths briefly parted, she impulsively delved her hands into his hair and held his lips to hers. Their kiss wasn’t gentle or sweet. It was hot and passionate, and promised so much more.
Stephanie moaned softly against his mouth. Caught up in his touch, she slid her hands from his hair to his broad shoulders. She pressed her chest tightly against his, twisting until she was in his lap.
Dominic stroked her tongue with his. Hearing her soft whimpers of pleasure, he closed his eyes, and a shudder rippled through him as she slid her hands under the back of his T-shirt and stroked his back.
He regretfully broke the kiss when he realized the ride had finished. Lifting his mouth from hers, he grinned at her flushed expression and felt a smug satisfaction as he looked into her eyes, unfocused with passion.
“We should get off,” he murmured softly, chuckling when she muttered underneath her breath, “I think we just did.”
Taking her hand, he led her off the Ferris wheel, guiding her through the crowds, and she let him. She was shaken by their kiss. She told herself she’d only kissed him to make him forget about his fears. She hadn’t expected him to take the kiss further; she hadn’t expected herself to let him, and she certainly hadn’t expected to find herself wanting so much more.

Would anyone ever love someone as Damaged as she? 

Wow I loved this story! There are tears, laughs, fights, and fires! We even go face to face with the serial killers. It can be read standalone, however it tells you how Stephanie and Dominic (from the Stephanie Carovella series - Nowhere to Run and Nowhere to Hide) first met. Nina continues to draw you in deeper to this story line as we learn more and more about Stephanie. Amazing some of the "predictions" the characters make which having read both Carovella novels I know will or will not come true... No spoilers from me though, you'll have to read the books to know for sure! And now a bit about this story...

Stephanie has finally started to pull herself together, it has been 6 months since the second most horrible night of her life... Ben has helped her pull herself out of the hell she was living in, but she still can't sleep thru the night. Maybe if she would open up to someone, but she never has and never will - no one knows the real Stephanie. In an effort to stop from waking up the whole house screaming each night during her nightmares, she starts leaving the house after short cat naps and ends up at Outlaws, a local bar in the area. She is attracted to one of the bartenders, but takes no action - they both take turns staring at the other for a month, until finally Dominic slides into her booth. The desire is instant and terrifying for Stephanie. As she escapes from the bar she finds on the many men who've tried to pick her up night after night following her. After telling him to get lost didn't work she stomped his foot with her stiletto and pulled her Glock out aiming for his chest. This is how Dominic finds her, not with fear in her eyes as she aims the gun, but fury - Dominic quickly intervenes before Stephanie can kill jock who can't take a hint. Will Stephanie and Glock scare Dominic off? Will she go back to Ben? And just who are these serial killers? Only one was to know, check out these awesome stories by Nina!

 Helena Hunting is a storyteller. 

When I first encountered Helena, she was writing stories on fanfiction. Fast forward a few years, with polishing and editing, one of her most beloved stories on fanfiction has found a new home on the printed page. It remains one of my most favorite stories. 

Clipped Wings is part one of a story about Hayden and Tenley, both of whom have faced unspeakable torment and tragedy. Both characters are torn up and guilt ridden, each one beating a heavy burden and sadness on the loss of their loved ones. They choose to don armor to hide their frail emotions – an armor made up of ink and body modification. 

Hayden, tattoo artist extraordinaire with an addiction to cupcakes, doesn’t hide his sorrows, but he displays it for all to see. His arms and chest indelibly drawn with images that remind him of what he lost, in an attempt to absolve him of his misjudgment. 

Tenley uses prescription medication and body art as her salve of choice. As she attempts to find absolution by wearing her guilt, she inexplicably finds serenity and peace with Hayden as their attraction and passion drive away the horrible memories that plague her. Their demons and past continue to haunt them and fate seems to be working at keeping them apart. Will they be strong enough to open up to each other, drive each one’s demons away and be strong for each other? 

Helena’s writing draws you deep into the story and allows you to feel each character’s angst and worries. She creates characters that draw a visceral reaction from you. Love them or hate them, Hayley and Tenley will leave their mark. 

One concern that I have is that the first few chapters are long-winded with a lot of narrative, which slows down the pace. Tighter editing would really help the first section of the book. But the action does pick up, and you get a sense that a train wreck is coming soon. I encourage you to stick with it. It’s worth it. 

Clipped Wings is a gut-wrenching tale replete with very dark themes, and very surprising passions. This book ends, not with a whimper, but with a promise of more. I can’t wait for book two to come out.

My heart belonged to Branch and Brooks Valentine since we were children, when we were all too naïve to know what that even meant. You'll fall in LOVE with the Love's Suicide cast! 

OMG! This book has SO much emotion in it. I don't think 5 stars is enough... I'm torn between wanting more and being worried of what trouble the Valentines could get into next... 

I knew when the date on the date on the prologue was September 11th, 2001 it was going to be sad. But I had no idea how sad and how fast. When you have tears running down your face and you are still in the prologue, you know the author has hit a home run! I was already so invested in the characters and it had just begun. I was so heart broken and happy and heart broken and happy for Katy (repetition intended). If you are going to read this in public be sure to have something to wipe your face and blow your nose! As the story progresses over the next 12 years there are many ups and downs, twists and turns, communication failures - as needed in any good romance ;) I have fallen so hard for Brooks. His selflessness is an attribute not seen as often as it should be these days! And now a bit about the story ...

Katy has grown up next to and with twins Branch and Brooks her whole lives. Their parents are best friends and neighbors. So who better share your first kiss with than your best friends? The next morning Katy is sure her mom knows something is up as she drives them to school. But before her mom can discuss it with her that night both her parents are at the Pentagon and are killed in the terrorist attack on 9/11/01. Katy's parents had planned for the worst and the Valentines (the twins parents) took Katy in. As they matured the first kiss feelings at 12 had grown and she found herself loving both brothers. Now comes the hard part - choosing. Follow Katy, Branch and Brooks on this loving and heartbreaking journey of love, betrayal, birth, abuse, death, and more! 

Favorite passages:
- How I'd let myself fall for two brothers was beyond me.
- Just like B learning something new, I had to learn to take baby steps. I had to be patient and kind if I wanted this to all work out.
- If you fall, I'll catch you. I always have and always will.- "Never thank me for taking care of you. I was put on this earth to do it and you know it, too."
- Look, life isn't always wonderful. There are ugly parts. You know that more than anyone. What you do with those ugly parts is what makes you the woman you are.

Fractured Steel by T.J. Loveless

This was a pull at your heart strings amazing read.

For those of your that just skim the reviews let me just start off by saying I loved this book. The author put great effort into this book and it shows with every turn of the page. I’m so glad I was given the chance to read such a great story.

With that said and out of the way for the skimmers… Holy smokes! I loved the story but didn't enjoy some of the content. That doesn't mean it wasn't a great story, because it certainly was. The pain and suffering, both physical and mental, on the people in the book as well as the horses was a little much to bear. However, it is what gets you to the meat of the story which is the strength of the characters and their amazing recovery and healing. 

The characters are awe inspiring. Whether you or a loved one has suffered or dealt with PTSD or are just finding courage to fight whatever battle you have on your plate you are completely connected throughout the book. 

This book received five stars from me and it’s not because it made me swoon, laugh out loud, or blush. It is because I felt hope and was reminded of the strength we all possess inside us to survive. You just need to learn to appreciate and move forward. When there is a will there is always a way.

You'll generally find a Muse snuggled to my hip, the other one laying across my shoulders and Editor Kitty staring at the screen, waiting for the red ink to make an appearance. Once it does, he lays across the keyboard purring.

 The family brags about the latest compromising position I've been found in, trying to figure out how to truly describe "legs all akimbo" or if falling on the couch could truly land a body in a certain position. They ignore my yelling at characters on the computer screen, and are forgiving when I accidentally write past the time for them to eat. It's one way of teaching the teenager to cook ...
