Publishing Date: February 1st

When Annie Daschel arrives in New York City, the only thing she can control is her list.
Not her father’s death or the loss of her home. Not the hole in her heart or the defective valve that’s dictated so much of her life. But she can put pen to paper to make a list of all the ways she can live out loud, just like her dad would have wanted.
See the city from the top of the Empire State Building: Check.
Eat hot dogs on the steps of The Met: Check.
Stand in the middle of Times Square: Check.
Get a job at Wasted Words: Check.
Two things not on her list: Greg Brandon and Will Bailey. And just like that, she finds herself caught in the middle of something she can’t find her way out of, with no clear answers and no rules.
List or no list, she realizes she can’t control anything at all, not even her heart.
Not the decisions it makes, and not the moment it stops.

Inspired by Jane Austen's Sense and Sensibility.

AuthorPics.jpgAbout the Author

Staci has been a lot of things up to this point in her life -- a graphic designer, an entrepreneur, a seamstress, a clothing and handbag designer, a waitress. Can't forget that. She's also been a mom, with three little girls who are sure to grow up to break a number of hearts. She's been a wife, though she's certainly not the cleanest, or the best cook. She's also super, duper fun at a party, especially if she's been drinking whiskey. From roots in Houston to a seven year stint in Southern California, Staci and her family ended up settling somewhere in between and equally north, in Denver. They are new enough that snow is still magical. When she's not writing, she's reading, sleeping, gaming, or designing graphics.

Review: Shelter

Shelter Shelter by Jay Crownover
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

We all need shelter from the storms in our lives!

Romance, remorse, passion, and mystery return in this second getaway novel. The details from the first book are all present to allow this to be read standalone. Set in small town Wyoming where your drive way takes 20 minutes to drive down, the Warner ranch continues as a working ranch along with a very lucrative retreat business. In Retreat, Sutton and Emrys leave things unfinished, but not for long in this wild ride from the hospital to recovery and back again. And now a bit about the story...

Sutton and Emrys went through hell the last time Emrys was in Wyoming, but she is determined to come back and make things right. At the end of Retreat, Sutton demanded she leave his hospital room, his demand was so aggravated you would think he was about to have a heart attack. But the reason he wanted her gone was shame. She hadn't protected her like he should have. At the same time she felt guilty for getting them in the situation. Once the lines of communication open and they reconnect the sparks fly. There is only one problem, people address turning up dead and Sutton is the prime suspect.

Favorite passages:
- I’d always been there for her. Until I hadn’t. I had never let her down before. Until I had. There was no way I could miss the heartbreak and betrayal written all over her face right now. My brothers were right. She needed to be protected from me and that made my gut twist and my injured heart tie itself into knots.
- I found the romantic equivalent of a fixer-upper, and once the rehab was done, I moved on to my next project.
- “Things aren’t always easy; seeing them through to the end is admirable.”
- She offered me the kind of shelter I never knew I needed.
- “I like him the way he is. I don’t need to fix him.”

V is for victory...

What a wonderful and sexy romantic comedy! Strong characters set in New York City attending a new type of school. The bookish senile cat owning CEO of her own company and the running playboy CEO with his own underwear secret. And now a bit about the story...

CJ has had a crush on him even longer, ever since her older brother brought home his best friend. 15 years later and CJ has a plan and she will except nothing but victory. She wants Graham to give her a one week sex-cation. Think of it has the adult X rated version of home ec. Now just to decide how their homes, jobs, and friendship manage during this special post graduation course.

Favorite passages:
- The trouble is, I’ve always been a sucker for the crazy ones. They’re just really good in bed.
- ... takes up running solely for the opportunity of bumping into him on his morning jog, for goodness’ sake? Running is abhorrent.

It should have been easy.
I needed the money. He needed a babysitter to keep him from snorting himself to death.
I was cherry-picked especially for him. Responsible. Optimistic. Warm. Innocent.
The worst part is that I should have known better.
Alex Winslow. British rock star. Serial heartbreaker. Casanova with whiskey eyes.
“Don’t get near the devil in a leather jacket. He’ll chew you up and spit you out.”
Sounds familiar? That’s because it was a headline in a tabloid the second time he got arrested.
Guess what? I didn’t listen.
I signed the contract.
World tour. Three months. Four Continents. One hundred shows.
My name is Indigo Bellamy, and I sold my soul to a tattooed god.
Problem was, my soul wasn’t enough for Alex Winslow. He ended up taking my body, too.
Then he took my heart.
Then he took my all.
