When was the last time you actually got a love letter?  To be honest I'm not sure I ever had, is that sad?  Maybe not - in this world of online dating and texting I get lots of electronic messages that make me smile.  But what if we went back years ago before all this technology made things easy?  This book contains many prose and poems that will have you saying awwww, so true, I want that, I hated when that happened to me, I can't wait for that to happen (again) to me.

Alley Oop! Explosive tension right from the beginning.  Strong characters that know what they want and go for it.  Even putting on brave fronts when they may not feel it all the way down to their bones.  I so want to be a vampire bat in the laundry matt back room to bite Preston... but anyway, back to the review... I'm sad I missed Hoops #1 and I'm going to have to go back and read it!!  This was an awesome book and the crush, to friends, to one night stand, to hatred to .... wait - I can't give the end away ;)  And now a bit about the story... Jared is a smart, hot, jock type - just missing the old money to have it all.  So he is going to get into the secret society so he can secure his future.  He has run so many errands for the silver spoon blue bloods he can taste his victory.  But before he can get it, they dangle one last task.  And he refuses.  He backs out and says goodbye.  But that isn't good enough for them... Banner is a ultra smart, proud, curvy, Latina who is going to go places in this world.  Her goal is to break into a male dominated profession and she will.  She is still in school, but you can tell she will be successful.  Speaking English, Spanish, Italian and Russian isn't enough, so now she is working on Mandarin!  Then she starts her internship, putting her crush behind her and goes out to tackle the world. Years later Jared and Banner are at the top of their fields, did I mention it was the same field, and now they are back in each others back pockets.   Love and Hate are a fine line... will these two change sides? Favorite passages:  - Study her soul? What the hell? I don't recognize myself.  Who is this guy?  And who gave his balls to Banner Morales?    - And just like that, I went from lowly intern to agent for one of the biggest fish ... because I showed some basic human decency and told the truth. I stretch my arm toward the wall and turn out the lights. With the light snuffed out, my other senses rise, hunting for her in the dark. The smell of her hair and her quick, shallow breaths. My sight adjusts until the heavy black curtain completely obscuring her fades to gray. Light from the outer room spills under the door, revealing just the shape, the outline of her, but still camouflaging details. I cup her cheek, taking a moment to appreciate the softness of her skin, the silky hair brushing my knuckles. I’m not an idiot. She wants the lights out because she’s self-conscious, but from my perspective, she has nothing to be ashamed of. “I think you’re beautiful, Ban.” “You do?” she asks, her voice hushed. My words surprise me as much as they seem to surprise her, because I don’t say shit like that to girls. The prettiest ones usually seem to already know, which makes any admiration I’d express redundant. But Banner . . . she’s so beautiful, and I’m not sure she knows. “I do.” I push the hair away from her face. “Uh . . . thank you.” Her laugh isn’t much more than a breath. “The lights are out, so I’m not sure that compliment counts.” “I know your face by heart. I lower my head and run my nose along her neck, discovering. “You always smell so good.” I’ve wanted to tell her that since the first night we studied here. “Pretty Pastel,” she replies, her laugh low, nervous. “What?” I pause. “The smell. It’s my dryer sheets. The scent is Pretty Pastel.” “I like it.” I resume my exploration, running a palm over her shoulder, her collarbone until I find the soft, full weight of her breasts, testing them in my hands, cupping them, holding them, brushing the nipples with my thumbs until they pebble and her breaths come harshly. “You like that?” I ask. I see her head nod in the semi-darkness. “Yeah. It feels good.” Her touch startles me in the best way, her hand finding my face, traveling over my mouth, eyes, and hair. I sense her approach, feel tiny pants of breath on my lips, and anticipation has me panting, too, shortens my breath and sharpens my senses. Her mouth seeks mine, eager and sweet when she kisses me. Her pleasure, her excitement matches, answers, fans mine. I guide her back down to the couch, and with a hand at her shoulder, urge her to stretch out. I’d shave points off my GPA for a glimpse of her, but she doesn’t want that. I get it, so I settle for a taste.

This next Bishop book is about Evan. In book one we learned "Stella" left him after their one night stand, but kept his clothes only to learn she was the new doctor at the hospital. Follow Emily and Evan in this story complete with the while Bishop clan. There is comedy, passion, mystery, and recovery. And now a bit about the story...

Having to work under the man she was just under wasn't Emily's idea of a fresh start, but she was trying her best. If only she didn't still want him so bad. The tension between them was electric. But he was so demanding, demeaning, and bossy!! Evan can't believe his luck, he has till train the new girl who just walked out on him. Only problem is she is still under his skin. Then she starts getting threats and his alpha male comes out in full force. Now if only they could stop arguing... though love and hate are a fine line!

Favorite passage: “This dress has gotten me plenty of free drinks, thank you very much,” I tell her proudly as I reach around the back and unzip it. “Probably because men feel sorry for your loss.”

Along with the most awesome pair of parents any kid could ask for. They'll show you a good time for sure!!! And now a bit about the story... Mack has spent her whole adult life focused on her son. Now he's a teen and her friends are trying to get her to live a little... do more than mom, work, and trivia queen. Campbell is enjoying his second career as a music teacher and musician at The Grouchy Owl finally out of the spotlight and also focused on raising his daughter.
