The Bombshell Effect by Karla Sorensen *~*~*~*~* Cover Reveal

Title: The Bombshell Effect
Author: Karla Sorensen
Genre: Sports Romantic Comedy
Release Date: June 14, 2018 Cover Designer: Najla Qamber

Allie Sutton just got a new job.
Not one she wants, and definitely not one she's prepared for. She hadn't seen her dad in years, so the last thing she expects upon his sudden death is to inherit the thing he loved more than anything (or anyone) ... the professional football team he owned for the last twenty years.
Luke Pierson does not want a new boss.
What he wants is to be a good father to his daughter, the best quarterback possible for his teammates. What he doesn't need is a blonde bombshell ruining the team's chances at another championship. Especially when that bombshell turns out to be his new neighbor. The neighbor he was a complete jerk to the first time they met.
For the sake of the team, they treat each other like complete professionals. In public, at least. Behind closed doors, it's a different story. And the fallout of giving in to that heat is something neither one of them can see coming.

Just before they entered the room, something snapped through my ears at the sound of her voice, but it was nothing I could place, nothing I could pin down with certainty. We all stood to greet her, and as soon as I got the first glimpse of her dress, everything around me slowed to a sluggish, weighted crawl.
It was almost as if my brain couldn’t process what I was seeing, so the vision of her was reduced to blocks of color.
Tan shoes.
Tan legs.
Red dress.
Blond hair.
Red lips.
White teeth.
Blue-green eyes.
When it all snapped together, I lost my breath in a pained whoosh. This could not be happening.
As she smiled brightly at Dayvon, giving him her full attention, I realized she hadn’t seen me yet. My next-door neighbor, the one who had called me an arrogant asshole less than twenty-four hours earlier, was the new owner of the Washington Wolves. And she hadn’t seen me yet.
Suddenly, I understood the rampant tug of nerves and the unshakable feeling that something was about to go very, very wrong. I swiped my hand over my mouth and let out a slow breath, straightening my shoulders and holding my head up high. I could do this. I’d stared down three hundred-pound linebackers who wanted to rip the helmet off my head as they tackled my ass to the ground.
I could do this.
She turned in my direction, and I saw the moment it registered. The hitch in her step, the narrowing of her eyes, the slight purse in her scarlet red lips.
You,” she whispered.
Everything stopped. All eyes turned in my direction. The temperature in the room with that one hushed word from her went from cordial to downright glacial.
“Oh, shit,” I muttered under my breath. She crossed her arms tightly over her chest. The chest I’d ogled while she shoved cupcakes at me.
There was absolutely no part of this that could end well.

Well, let’s see ... I’m a wife and a mother. If the things that I write bring a smile to someone's face, then I've done my job. I am obsessed with Outlander (both the books and the show). I’m almost exclusively a romance reader, which means some people will never consider me a literary snob. If I could meet one historical figure, it would be Jane Austen. I received my Bachelors in Public Relations and worked in health care marketing before I had my babies. I hate Twitter. I do it, but I hate it. Also, if you want to get on my good side, bring me wine and I'll love you forever.

One bad-ass man with boyfriend experience.

Successful entrepreneur a must. Bonus points if you’re a crazy local legend.

Excerpt

The moment I orgasm he thrusts his hips and fills me so deep I can’t breathe. The muscles in my legs are spasming. My eyelids flutter closed—not sure if they want to stay that way and drag the moment out behind a curtain of fireworks on black, or open wide to see the whole thing in perfect clarity.
They lose the battle and stay closed as pleasure courses through me in waves. My muscles contracting against his cock. The low growl comes from deep within him as he reaches his climax with me, and then the explosion as he comes inside me.
I laugh. I can’t help it. I just smile, and laugh, and let the happiness and satisfaction bubble out of me like some wild child who’s never been let out to play.
“Jesus,” he says, his body relaxing.
I lean my face up into his neck. Smelling the new leather of his jacket, the faint scent of antiseptic from the tattoo, and aftershave leftover from this morning.
He grabs my hair, pulls it—not too hard, but not too softly either—until my mouth is up against his again.
We don’t kiss. We don’t even move. We just go still.
I can feel him smile. I’m sure he can feel me smile too.
“Now what?” I ask.
“Whatever you want, Oaks,” he replies back, kissing my lips softly. Tenderly.
“I’m not talking about—”
“I know what you’re talking about,” he says, cutting me off. “And my answer is still, ‘Whatever you want, Oaks.’”
“But—”
“Shhh,” he says. “Stop thinking.”
I laugh. “No one can stop thinking.”
“It wasn’t a request.”
“No?”
He continues to kiss me. His mouth more urgent. His lips more demanding. His will imposed.
“No. We’re going to take that pizza inside,” he says. “Then we’re going to fuck in a hot shower so we can get warm. And then we’re going eat dinner naked in front of your fireplace.”
I just smile.
“Any objections?”
“Can’t think of any.”
“Good, because that wasn’t really a question either.”

The Boyfriend Experience (Jordan’s Game #3) by JA Huss
Review by Theresa Esterline
Stars: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

It's all fair...

You know the rest I'm sure. The best laid plans and all... This book can be read as standalone (I haven't read books 1-2 yet and don't feel as though I missed anything). Set mostly in Denver, CO, this Rocky Mountain story touches on real estate, beer, and multiple orgasms, what's not to love! It is quick to read, keeps you on your toes, and checking a few times to determine who is good vs bad. And now a bit about the story...

Lawton needs a partner for his TV pitch. Oaklee, local crazy brewmaster, needs to seek vengeance, get revenge, or something like that. Together the two decide to team up in a game of winner takes all. But can they out think the evil bad girl crazier than Oaklee? Or will they lose at their own games...

Favorite passage: ‘A fighter never quits and a quitter never fights.’

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Hiding in plain sight...

Fast paced story of magic, evil, and soul mates. The wander and the dependable worrier meet and are instantly drawn. But they are so different, follow along with them as they slowly open up to each other. And now a bit about the story...

Using as little power as possible she escapes and find her way to the reservation where the puzzle solving begins. Can she solve them before the person after her, finds her?

Who knew things could get even darker and dirtier in New Orleans? New York Times bestselling author Meghan March introduces the Savage Prince of the city, the man you never want to meet. I do what I want and who I want. I don’t follow anyone’s rules—even my own. I knew I shouldn’t touch her, but it didn’t stop me. Didn’t stop me the second time either. Only made me want a third. My lifestyle suits the savage I am, and she doesn’t. But Temperance Ransom is my newest addiction, and I’m nowhere near ready to quit her yet. I’ll have her my way, even if it means dragging her into the darkness. Hopefully it doesn’t kill us both. Savage Prince is book one of the Savage Trilogy, set in the same world as Ruthless King, however you do not need to read the Mount Trilogy to devour this scandalously hot new story.

Piece of Work by Staci Hart
Review by Theresa Esterline
Stars: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Here's to not so secret secrets...

They say a picture is worth a 1000 words.  If I could paint or draw, I'd make a picture for you with love, angst, frustration, fear, power, and more.  But since my picture would likely end up a jumbled abstract leaving a lot of room for interpretation, I'll tell you with three words: I LOVED IT!  Okay a few more... set in New York City at the Met with a trip to Florence, Italy, this story will keep you turning the pages.  To see how Rin is growing into a strong woman and to see how Court will screw up next.  And now a bit about the story...

Rin is working on her dissertation while starting an internship at the Met.  Court is the curator responsible for her area of study.  Rin is tall, almost as tall as Court.  Being 6' tall can be difficult for fashion on a woman.  So Rin wears men's shirts and her pants are often too short.  Court is handsome, but angry and closed off.  Rin comes to work her first day timid and shy svc dressed like a frumpy co-ed.  She immediately loses any respect from those at the Met based on her appearance.  However once they read her work, minds shift.  Then when she decides to take some power back and dress for the role to get her confidence back, she bowls then over.  Now onto the next challenge, acquiring David!

Favorite passages:
 - “It’s like having a Greek god send you to Hades for sacrificing the wrong kind of goat.”
 - But that was the funny thing about hearts. What they wanted and what would hurt them were sometimes the same. And in the battle of head over heart, I had always sided with my head.
 - “You don’t have to say anything. I don’t need you to tell me I’m right. I’m always right.”

Excerpt:
He smirked and flipped up his sunglasses. Bastard. “You’re early,” I clipped. “I would have had my assistant text you, but she’s currently bedridden.” You could have texted me.” “I didn’t have your number,” he said simply. “Oh.” His eyes shifted to look behind me, and I turned to find my friends standing me in a row with my suitcase in front of them, my messenger bag on top, and fake smiles on all their faces, lips together, their judgment about as quiet as a foghorn. “These your roommates?” “Yup,” was all I said as I turned and took my suitcase, hugging each of them down the line with promises to text when we landed. And then I turned to Court, rolling my suitcase in front of me like like a riot shield. I tried to pick it up to carry it over the threshold, but it was heavy, and before I could get far, he’d swept it out of my hands like it was a loaf of bread and not fifty pounds of mascara and shoes. I waved at my friends, who offered encouraging smiles and hand gestures, and I closed that door, immediately regretting every decision I’d made to bring me to the moment I turned around. He stood at the door to the backseat, holding it open for me like a gentleman, which I knew he was not. But the look on his face of regret and deference, under the hard shell of his brooding, was almost too much to bear. So I did the only thing I could. I ignored him. I ignored his gorgeous lips as they tilted and the sleek cut of his jaw as I walked past him. I ignored the sight of his long legs as he climbed in next to me and the smell of him that made me want to grab him by the lapels of his jacket and bury my nose in his chest. The driver took off, and I busied myself in my bag, looking for my headphones and book. His eyes were on me. I pretended like I didn’t notice. “You’re not wearing lipstick,” he stated. Headphones, headphones, headphones. “It’s an international flight, Court. Of course I’m not wearing red lipstick for a ten hour flight.” A pause. “Rin, I—” Aha! I popped in my earbuds the second they were in hand. His lips flattened, his face unamused. Rin, his lips said, but I smiled and shrugged, pointing to my ears. “Noise canceling,” I said way too loud. His chest rose and fell with a sigh I couldn’t hear—I’d already turned on music, a playlist we’d built the night before geared toward resisting douchery and unwanted-slash-totally-wanted advances—and he reached into his own bag, a leather affair at his feet, his hand disappearing into the bag and reappearing with a book, which he handed to me. He watched me with his expression shrouded as I paused, my eyes on the offered book. An image of Penitent Magdalene by Tintoretto filled the cover, and I met his eyes, pulling my earbuds out by the cord. “I thought you could use this. For your proposal,” he said, giving nothing away. “I…A colleague of mine wrote it, so if you have any questions, I can connect you. If you want.” I took it from his hand, surprised and disarmed. “Thank you,” was all I said. He opened his mouth as if to speak again, but closed it, and with a nod, he reached back into his bag for his own book. Margaret Atwood’s Oryx and Crake. I put my earbuds back in place, trying not to bite my lip, but it found its way between my teeth despite the effort at the sight of him sitting there, dressed like that, reading Margaret Atwood. After giving me a thoughtful gift, a book he knew I would want, one I would need for my dissertation. Court Lyons made about as much sense to me as a scrambled up Rubik’s Cube. I leaned against the door as I flipped through his gift, doing my best to sort through the rush of questions and confusion as Karen O of the Yeah Yeah Yeah’s sang about being cheated by the opposite of love. And I found I knew exactly the feeling.

Review: Vanilla and Vice

Vanilla and Vice Vanilla and Vice by Tabatha Vargo
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Will she do ANYTHING to avoid becoming a Vegas vagabond??

This story based mostly in the Empire Sevens resort and casino in Las Vegas is one of starting from nothing and surviving. But what will you do to live - steal, nudity, sex, murder???? Story unfolds brilliantly in front of your eyes as you turn the pages, from the casino noises to the dark bars to the drunken Vegas party goers. As with the past Tabatha and Melissa books I read, the written is seamless. And now a bit about the story...

Eden has escaped her deplorable living conditions only to run out of gas, literally, before getting to her aunt. The Vegas luck is on her side and one of her aunts co-workers rescues her. Now she has a real shot at doing something with the rest of her life. But her aunts boss has other ideas. For Zander, Eden is the ultimate challenge to his addiction. He knows he can't be near her, but he also knows he can't live without Eden's aunt. How will these two survive each other. Will her very vanilla demeanor be the vice he just can't resist?

Favorite passages:
- Even if it was against my morals a tiny bit. I was a beggar. And beggars couldn’t be choosy.
- Instead, she went in that locker room like a fucking fighting champ and came out looking so goddamn delicious that I almost threw myself off the wagon at that moment.
- I knew because I watched her regularly instead of sitting behind my desk doing actual fucking work.
