Vincent Reed always believed he’d play professional volleyball in the Olympics, but when he’s injured his sophomore year of college, his dreams are crushed and he loses his scholarship. Enjoying the life of luxury and travel, Vinny continues moonlighting as a male escort after graduation. He has everything he could ever need.
Everything happens for a reason …
Teresa Stewart never planned to get pregnant before she was married. She also didn’t plan for the father of her baby to die in combat before she could even tell him the news. Struggling to feed herself and her son, Colton, Tessa moves to Las Vegas where she hopes the cost of living will be cheaper and she’ll find a job in a popular hotel. But finding a job isn’t easy for Tessa, and a neighbor soon convinces her that stripping is the best way to make the money she needs to provide for her small family. All of life’s puzzle pieces are starting to come together, but Tessa knows something is still missing.
They say best friends make the best lovers …
At a bachelor party for his co-worker, Vinny meets Tessa. The sexual attraction is undeniable, but they each have something holding them back from moving forward. They grow even closer when Vinny becomes Colton’s teacher, and it seems as though all the pieces are finally falling into place.
However, sometimes the best-laid plans turn to hell …
Because murder will change everything.

I Heart Books Reviews

Rum & Coke (Saddles & Racks #4) by Kimberly Knight
Review by Theresa Esterline
Stars: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Another one bites the dust...
It is amazing how much bad stuff can be linked to one group of friends... in this series bad things didn't happen in threes... but stick to the end and some good will come.  Note: this book does contain bad things - drug dealers, murder, rape -- so if you have a personal history with those topics, this may not be for you.  The author does not go into detail though, but just a note of caution, so you are aware.  Aside from the bad things that happen in this world, there is also humor, compassion, and lots of chemistry, oh and a little baseball - go Cubs!  Yeah, yeah, I know they aren't in the story, but I'm a Chicago fan thru and thru!  And now a bit about the story...

Tessa hasn't had an easy life.  After getting knocked up during fleet week, only to track the marine down to find he was killed in combat before should could find him, she finds herself with a special needs son and little means to stay afloat.  She ends up working at a topless strip club for a very bad man.  Let's just say she learns more about him that she should and it gets her into hot water.  But before she gets into trouble she meets Vinny, one of the Saddles & Racks escorts that hasn't retired.  Yet?  They hit it off, other than their opposing baseball views - he's a Dodger and she's a Giant.  But then the night he plans to sleep over, she goes missing.

Favorite passage: "Do you talk like this all the time?" Seth cut in. We all turned to look at him.  "What do you mean?" Gabe asked.  "Like chicks braiding each other's fucking hair."

Note: I was given a free copy and voluntarily chose to review this book.

Angels & Whiskey (Saddles & Racks #1) by Kimberly Knight

Stars: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

So much whiskey he was seeing angels...

Wow! Talk about starting off with a bang! This story had me pulled in from the beginning. When the story was going between the two main characters, I couldn't wait for them to meet <3. And now a bit about the story...

Gabe is ready to settle down when his first love dies in his arms. While struggling to move on he becomes an escort. In the mean time Autumn is in a loveless and abusive marriage. Just as she decides she has to get out or die trying, she literally runs into Gabe - her Mr. Green Eyes... Will anything ever be the same?

Favorite passages:
- “Yes, please.” You know you go to Starbucks too much when they know your name and order by heart.
- “I’m going to love the shit out of you. We may fight, bicker, slam doors, even want to strangle each other sometimes, but I will never lay a hand on you to hurt you.”

Tequila & Lace (Saddles & Racks #2) by Kimberly Knight
Review by Theresa Esterline
Stars: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

He had me at body shot...

Awesome story of turning your life around after tragedy, even if it requires a lot of time and tequila. We already fell for the male lead, Paul, in Angels and Whiskey. In this story you won't believe how awful some parents can be. And now a bit about the story...

Paul is anxious about his new roommate, the man didn't even move himself in. When his relaxing evening is interrupted by a gorgeous woman at his door, he's suddenly glad Andi isn't so macho. They slowly get to know each other and before you know it Saddles and Racks has lost another escort. But can Paul accept Andi's past or will he regret what the tequila made him do?

Favorite passages:
- If he was some fancy motherfucker, we weren’t going to get along. Men needed to be manly. We were made to lift heavy stuff. God forbid we broke a nail.
- “Oh no, no, no, gorgeous. You did that all wrong. Who showed you how to do a tequila shot? Let’s correct this, shall we?”
- Joselyn was either going to arrest me after what I was about to do, or have hot monkey sex with me.

Champange & Handcuffs (Saddles & Racks #3) by Kimberly Knight
Review by Theresa Esterline
Stars: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Good things come to those who wait...

The Saddles and Racks crew is back. In this romantic suspense we get to learn of Andi (aka Joss) past. Starting web she is little in Florida brings in new blood to the series. Joss' best friends growing up, Seth and Cat are the stars of this book. Note: this does contain FBI taking down a sex trafficking ring and those who live the sex trafficking life. And now a bit about the story...

Joss has grown up in a terrible situation, but luckily she has a nice older neighbor looking out for her. She becomes friends with her grandson, Seth, who flies in once per summer. Then after starting middle school she finds a new best friend in Cat. The first summer they meet they are instantly like the three musketeers. Until Joss turns 17 and the unthinkable happens so she runs away. Finally when Cat graduates, now at 18, she heads to DC where Joss and Seth now live. Things happen finally, now that it isn't illegal, but a misunderstanding threatens it all. Another 10 years pass and the three are reunited and you'll never guess what happens.

Favorite passage: Now we were older, smarter, wiser, and I was willing to accept that maybe our good thing back in the day fell apart so better things could come together now.
