Excerpt

There’s a buzzing sensation when
you have chemistry with someone. It’s like there are invisible threads
connecting your bodies and igniting into sparks, and the residual pulse bounces
back in shock waves, growing stronger with each second.
I felt that with Reno. He stepped
so close to me that I remembered how good it felt when he’d held me in his
arms. The animalistic look in his eyes captured me like he was a predator and I
was prey. He felt it too. I could tell by soft breath he took before he spoke.
“I've always liked hazel eyes,” he
said. “Yours look like a sunset over sea-green waters.”
I hit pause. This was a scene I’d
be replaying in my head for weeks to come, and I didn't want to ruin the moment
by saying something inane. I let him graze his thumb across my mouth. He pulled
my lower lip down just enough that his thumb glided across the fleshy inside.
Then he rolled his wet thumb across my lip, making what seemed like a casual
gesture become the most intimate moment I’d experienced with a man outside of
sex.
Staring into Reno’s chocolate eyes
up close was like riding on that motorcycle. Intense, sexy, and addictive. When
I felt his hand leisurely traveling down the curve of my back, my icy walls
began to melt and I warmed to his touch.
I waited for him to make another
move, but it never came. He looked at me like something unattainable—the same
way I coveted the expensive perfume bottles behind the display counter, or the
chocolate macadamia nut cookies at the gourmet shop.
I whirled around and he captured my
wrist, gently tugging me back. “Something wrong with the way I touched you?”
“It’s nothing,” I breathed.
But Reno didn’t let go. He stepped
closer and lifted my chin. “Did you want me to kiss you?”
“No.”
Reno grinned. “Liar.”

About the Author

This is the segment where you learn a little more about who I am, so here's what I can tell you:  I drink copious amounts of vitamin water placed precariously close to my laptop while writing. These are two healthy habits I have no intention of breaking. I'm a transplant living in the south, but I was born in the 70's to a military dad who moved us around the world.

When I'm not writing (which is all the time), I'm hunting down Indie music, watching movies, reading, eating Tex-Mex, discovering new ways to humiliate myself bowling, and burning up my laptop battery on the Internet. I have a relaxed, easy-going personality and don't like drama. I live with a cat who thinks she is a dog, or a goat (she eats plastic, so I'm not sure which).

Throughout my life, I've had insomnia. Counting sheep never worked and eventually I would imagine those sheep were the sole source of food after an apocalyptic battle where only thousands survived. I made up stories in a futile attempt to bore myself to sleep. The problem was, I got so wrapped up in my "head stories" that I would continue them through the following nights, changing it up each time to make it more exciting. Eventually, I started writing my ideas down - creating short stories, and then I discovered my love for poetry.

It's almost embarrassing how many spiral notebooks and stacks of paper I have of poetry and lyrics.

Another passion: digital art. I design all my book covers, marketing, and series art. I'm a very visual person and pursued photography as an avid hobby for many years.

I am not a YA author (I feel like I have to state this only because I've had a few people ask), but I think it's wonderful there are so many books available to teens in Urban Fantasy and Paranormal.

I am finally doing what I have always wanted to do: giving my characters a pulse through writing full time. I focus on adult urban fantasy romance, but I don't like labels and I enjoy blending genres to break out of the confines of predictability.

But it's what I love to do.

Banded Together Release Day Blitz

Synopsis

You've asked for them, some have even begged for more of the Walker twins. 'Banded Together' is a continuation of the Rebel Walking Series that will give you insight on Talon and Eaven's wedding as well as the rest of the characters in the series. Taron and Ivy are not left out of this one and you'll quickly see the banter between them remains.

The previous books in the Rebel Walking Series should be read before this one for the best experience and optimal character development.

Excerpt

"Hey, baby, I can't wait ‘til you're officially Mrs. Walker." His deep whisper pulls me out of my almost asleep state. I roll over to face him and even though it's dark, I watch his face. Nose to Nose.
"I'm already yours. You know this." So much has happened since he proposed. We were going to wait another year, but Talon is ready to make it official. I love his urgency—I'm ready, too—but I don’t want to rush it with everything that’s going on with the band and the trial.
Rebel Walking lost their spot on the tour when Taron was arrested. We've spent the last five months, either in court or in limbo, waiting for something to happen. A few months ago Taron was released from all charges, but the Walker's haven't rested while the trial for Dylan has been on going. Luckily, this morning he was found guilty on multiple counts of attempted rape, attempted murder and countless other offenses. He will be spending many years in prison, which is where he belongs.
The instant relief when the verdict was read was so peaceful. We should be celebrating, but everyone is too exhausted to do anything today.

"I know, but I want the world to know."

"They do. Are you kidding me? We're always together."

"We could just do something small at the lake house. We could walk down to the beach and get married next to the water—just have our family and the crew there to share it with us. Avery can be the flower girl. I’d have Taron, Holden, and Luke on my side and of course you’d have Ivy, Lilly, and Macy on yours."

"You have this all planned out, don't you?" I sit up in bed and begin to think of all the stuff I'll need to do to pull this off.

"All of the important stuff, I do." He rolls onto his back, pulling my hands toward him. "Come here, baby."

I work my way into a straddle on top of the man who holds my whole heart. "We're not going to stress over this. Let's just keep it simple." I let his words soak in. I can't wait to be Mrs. Talon Walker and it really isn't my style to have a huge wedding, anyway. I figured he would've wanted one, but I'm relieved he doesn't.
"Simple. I like it." His hands begin to roam over my body and I take the opportunity to rotate my hips just right so that he feels my warmth. Sleeping naked has its benefits.

"You wicked, wicked woman. Don't you dare tease me." His fingers pinch my nipples as he thrusts upward, reminding me what he's packing. His erection moves right where I want it to.
"Oh, I'm not teasing." My breathy voice amuses him.
"What's so funny?" This time it's my impatience that's obvious.
"You're always so ready for me. You never disappoint."

"Damn straight. Have you ever seen yourself?" I lower my mouth to his chest and begin nibbling over his chest and neck. His hands continue to roam over my body, sending chills in every direction. My hair falls over my face and he uses his hand to swipe it to one side. I feel his hand leave me and his body stretch toward the nightstand right before he flicks on the light.
He loves to watch me during sex. It strikes me to the depths of my soul when he does this. His stare pierces straight through my body the entire time. It's raw and so real, but I love it.

I lift my torso back up and watch him tuck his arms beside his head. My fingers run over and through the ridges of his defined stomach. He works hard to stay sculpted and I never miss the opportunity to truly appreciate his efforts.

My fingers follow the muscles straight to where our hips meet. I slowly lift my hips and enjoy that his shaft lifts to the exact spot I need it to be. Sliding down onto him, I close my eyes and love the feeling of him filling me completely. With my hands splayed across his abs, I begin to move slowly.

My focus on how he feels is consuming me. I open my eyes to watch him, not surprised when I find him staring deep into my eyes. Keeping my eyes locked with his, I continue my motions. He allows me to move completely on my own; I love when he gives me control.

A Girl By Any Other Name Blog Tour

Today we get to learn more about the Fabulous MK Schiller's book A Girl By Any Other Name. Now I have read some of her other work and it was great, so I have no doubt this one will be great to. I sadly did not get to review this one myself but the great Jennifer Ballam who is on our review team did. She seemed to love it but if you wait a few, you can see what she had to say.

Title: A Girl By Any Other Name

Author: MK Schiller

Publisher: Totally Bound

Genre: Romantic suspense

Publication Date: 12th January 2014

Synopsis:

Everyone tells him he needs to move on, but how can a man function without his heart?

Ten-year-old Caleb Tanner wants nothing to do with Sylvie Cranston, the annoying weird girl who moves next door to him and gets him in trouble for swearing. But at twelve, they become friends when he teaches her how to hook a fishing line and she shows him the value of a selfless act. At fourteen, he falls in love with her.

At sixteen, she dies.

Or so he’s told. But Cal never believes it. Sylvie has become part of his soul. He knows her like the steady beating of his own heart. He’d know if she was dead. Cal looks for her, prays for her and finally he just waits for her.

Nine years later, she walks into the community college English class Cal is teaching. Only this girl claims her name is Sophie Becker and she doesn’t know him. Cal knows better. He’s determined to get the girl he loves back—and protect her from the danger that took her away all those years ago.

EXCERPT

I hesitated, finally looking at it, knowing it would piss me off no end to see her naked body on display. I blinked in confusion, perplexed by the large canvas. She had told me it was abstract, but I wasn’t prepared for this. It looked more like a landscape scene than the gorgeous girl beside me. I had just thought about how a woman’s body was all peaks, valleys and curves, and that was literally what Rome had painted without any clear perspective. Well, at least I didn’t have to worry about anyone else seeing this.

“How many hours did she pose for you, Rome?” I asked him.

“About six in total,” he replied, not taking his eyes off Sylvie.

“It’s very…interpretational, isn’t it?”

“It’s modern abstract, so yes.” He turned his attention back to Sylvie. “I have to walk around, but have a drink with me later, okay?”

“’Kay. Congratulations, Rome.” She smiled at him and somehow this jackass took that as a sign to hug her. My hands twitched, but I let it pass. She was a beautiful girl and if I went around punching every guy who developed a crush on her, I’d be a pretty busy man.

I stared back at the painting, putting my arm around her. “So, what do you think?” she asked.

“Six hours, eh?”

“Yeah, it would have been less, but he kept getting the lines wrong and had to start over a few times.”

I felt the grin tugging at the corners of my mouth. I bit my lip to keep her from seeing it, but I failed miserably.

“What’s so funny?” she demanded. I choked on a laugh. She narrowed her eyes at me, “What?”

I couldn’t control it anymore. I full-out laughed so hard, people turned to look.

“I’m glad I bent down to whisper in her ear so we wouldn’t be overheard. “Baby, isn’t it obvious to you? That guy just wanted an excuse to see you naked.”

She released my hold. “No, that’s not true. This is his interpretation of me. Jesus, Tex, that’s very petty of you to say.” She hissed the words in my direction, managing to keep her voice to a very low level, although she was shaking mad.

I pulled her back against my chest and put my arms around her so I could have full access to her ear and she could clearly see the painting while I explained myself. “I know you’re an artist, and you know art much better than I do, but I’m a guy, and I know the male head—both of them—much better than you. Right now, I’m struggling whether to kick Florence’s ass or pat him on the back.”

“His name is Rome,” she replied, trying to keep her composure.

“Whatever. I’m not trying to be a jerk here. In fact, I think the idea was fucking genius as hell and very creative, but then again, he is an artist. I’m just being honest with you when I tell you that this”—I gestured to the painting—“has no resemblance to this.” I ran my hand down her neck, over the swell of her breasts and down her trim waist. We were in a corner and the way I was hovering I knew we wouldn’t be seen, not that I cared, but she would. Her breath hitched with my touch. “I know I’m way too possessive of you, but it’s not something I’ll ever apologise for because I love you so damn much. And the fact is, you are too free-spirited and look at the good in all people. It’s the thing I’ve always loved most about you and the very thing that scares the hell out of me too. Do you understand?” Her body was melting into mine, and I knew from the way she shivered it wasn’t from the cold.

 An I Heart Books Review

A Girl By Any Other Name by M.K. Schiller
Review by Jennifer Ballam
Stars: 5...

I took I while to connect with this story but when I did, oh my goodness!!! I adored it.

The story began slowly with references at the beginning of the 'in the past' chapters to a book called The Raven, I wondered what this was referring to and was worried that I may have missed part of the story with there being a previous book!! I will put your mind at ease and tell you that you have not missed a book and that all will be revealed in due course, just keep reading the story!

The chapters in the book that referred to the childhood relationship between Caleb and Sylvie were lovely and reading about how their relationship had grown during those years I loved. The scene where they end up parting and the aftermath of that were really well written. You could feel the pain that Caleb was going through. That I suppose should be something that I should mention, the majority of the book, right up until the end of the book, is written completely from Caleb's perspective.

It's going to be hard to try and sell the book to you by recapping some of the plot as beyond saying that it is the romance of a man who was convinced that the girl he loved from his childhood was not dead and searched for her for 10 years, and finding her obviously, I would be letting too much of the plot away. All I can hint to is that she is indeed running from a person and that when the details of that persons crimes were revealed in the book I was so appalled that I read that passage aloud to my partner who also winced.

The love that these two characters share for one another in a love that will get through anything. The twist towards the end like others have said I really did not see coming, in fact the clue was there but I thought it was a missed typo and overlooked it!! The clues were there but well hidden obviously!

I book different to a lot of books I have read lately and one I would not hesitate to read again. You'll love the characters and you'll love the story. You'll definitely fall in love with Caleb even more when he quotes Mr Darcy (well I did as it's one of my all time favourite novels) and laugh at the Optimus Prime quote. You'll also love that this has an ending and all loose ends 'killed off'!

Author Bio – MK Schiller

I am a hopeless romantic in a hopelessly pragmatic world. I have a full time life and two busy teenagers, but by night, I sit by the warm glow of my computer monitor, and attempt to conjure up passionate heartwarming stories with plenty of humor.

I started imagining stories in my head at a very young age. In fact, I got so good at it that my best friend asked me to make up stories featuring her as the heroine and the boy she currently liked as the hero. We'd spend hours on the phone while I came up with a series of unrealistic, yet tender events led the object of her desire to finally profess his love. You've heard of fan fiction... this was friend fiction.

Even with that, it took many years to realize I could produce an actual full length book that readers would enjoy. I try to make my stories humorous, realistic, with characters who are flawed but redeeming. I hope you enjoy my stories and never stop searching for your happily ever after.

REVIEW:

Hudson by Shayne McClendon

4/5

I loved The Barter System because Shayne always does a great job at catching the readers attention. She writes scenes that would make anyone blush (or almost anyone). In Hudson, she takes characters from The Barter System and gives us some more on them. Characters we all fell in love interact with the new characters of Hudson. ...

Hudson is a man who doesn't like giving anyone the chance to take over. He keeps his hand on the reigns tightly. That is until he meets Gabriella.

Gabriella comes in and turns Hudson's world upside down just as he turns hers upside down.

What happens when worlds collide?

Pick up Hudson to find out. If you want to catch up on the series. Grab The Barter System and read from the beginning.

This series is NOT for a younger audience.

Excerpt
Rachel lifted her face and pressed a kiss to her favorite arm her spot. “Devin, all of these years, I’ve been trying so hard to replace you, to make my mind forget by filling it with…men. But, every time, Dev. Every single time, I was disappointed. No one can ever be you because you are the only one for me. And to answer your question, yes. I’m more than okay. That wasn’t just sex, Devin. That was you, bringing me back to life. I want to do that over, and over and over again. And next time,” she rolled over to face him, a glint in her eye. “I want it like I know you wanted to do it this time. Hard, fast, and in whatever position you want it. We had some fabulous times together. Let’s do that again.”

“I want nothing more than to do it all,” Devin said, his voice low. “But don’t mistake what just happened for me just being gentle on you. I wanted to make love to you, to show you what you mean to me. I can tell you all day long, but I wanted you to feel it; feel me. My heart is beating only for you. My body is yours. I love you, Rachel.”

She climbed back on top of him, pressing her body against him. “Devin,” she said, her face even with his. Pressing kisses to his eyes, nose, then lips, her body started shaking. Why was this so hard for her? She knew it like she knew her own name, but saying it was so difficult for her. “I…” She dipped her head down and kissed his ear, running her tongue along it, then his neck. When goose bumps broke out on his body, she grinned against his neck. Going back to his lips, she put her hands against his face and looked at him in the eyes. “I love your eyes,” she whispered. “And your face. God help me, that body is to die for. But Devin?”

“Yes.”

“What I really love?” Rachel paused, willing her body to stop quivering. “Is you. I always have.” There, that wasn’t so bad. “I have since the night I met you, and I’ve never stopped. All this time, all these years, it’s only been you for me, Dev. I know we have shit to work through. But, I love you. I do. I don’t think there will ever be a moment where I’m not completely and totally in love with you.”
