  SavagePrince availnowbanner

Who knew things could get even darker and dirtier in New Orleans? New York Times bestselling author Meghan March introduces the Savage Prince of the city, the man you never want to meet. I do what I want and who I want. I don’t follow anyone’s rules—even my own. I knew I shouldn’t touch her, but it didn’t stop me. Didn’t stop me the second time either. Only made me want a third. My lifestyle suits the savage I am, and she doesn’t. But Temperance Ransom is my newest addiction, and I’m nowhere near ready to quit her yet. I’ll have her my way, even if it means dragging her into the darkness. Hopefully it doesn’t kill us both. Savage Prince is book one of the Savage Trilogy, set in the same world as Ruthless King, however you do not need to read the Mount Trilogy to devour this scandalously hot new story.

It was hate at first sight......

Affton

I hated Cable James McCaffrey.

He was entitled, spoiled, a user…and an addict.

He was out of control and didn’t bother trying to hide it.

He had everything anyone could want but still seemed miserable and lost.

Every move he made, every mistake he stumbled his way through, rubbed me the wrong way. However, I couldn’t stop myself from trying to save him from himself when no one else would. In the sweltering heat of the summer, Cable taught me that having it all means nothing if you can’t have the one thing you want more than anything else.

Cable

I was obsessed with Affton Reed.

She was rigid, uptight, and no fun. There was something about her innate goodness that called to me.

She acted like she was above all the normal faults and failures that clung to the rest of us like the scent of smoke after a fire.

I was infatuated with her, but that didn’t stop me from acting like she didn’t exist.

In the scorching heat of summer, Affton taught me that there is always a way back from the brink of despair. She showed me that the trick to having it all was realizing that it was already there, in my hands. All I had to do was hold onto it.

The road to recovery is full of twists and turns no matter who is in the driver’s seat.

EXCERPT: I took another swallow of cinnamon-flavored booze and made a face as it burned down my throat. Maybe I could breathe fire. I needed to be able to if I was going to make it through the summer with Affton Reed looking over my shoulder. She had some of the strongest shields I’d ever seen. If my fire wasn’t hot enough, it would bounce off her and burn me to a crisp. The sun was down, and I was pretty much sitting in the water now. I thought about lying down and letting it lift me up and carry me wherever it wanted. I wasn’t drifting anywhere good on my own. I heard splashing and felt the air behind me stir. No longer alone. No longer left to my own devices and bad choices. I took another swig from the bottle, draining it, and looked over my shoulder at the girl making her way toward me. Her hair looked silver in the darkening light, and there was no mistaking the annoyance on her unmade-up face. She looked at me then shifted her gaze to the empty bottle in my hand. Her lips pulled into a frown, and her eyebrows tugged down into an angry V over the top of her nose. “You aren’t going to make anything about this summer easy, are you, Cable?” I had a thing for her voice. It was a little bit husky and a lot sweet with that slow, southern Texas twang in it. The way my name sounded when she said it, all exasperated and frustrated, was fucking sexy. It made me wonder what it would sound like when she whispered it in the dark while I was inside of her. I’d imagined that more times than I could count over the last eighteen months. “I don’t really do easy, Reed.” I looked at the empty bottle in my hand and contemplated tossing it into the Gulf. Knowing my luck, I’d hit some endangered marine life and give the judge one more reason to add months onto my sentence. Instead, I reached up and handed it to the leggy blonde who was now standing next to me, the water well above her ankles. “Jesus. Did you drink this whole thing?” She sounded incensed, and when I rolled my eyes up to look at her, it was clear she was contemplating hitting me over the head with the very weapon I’d just handed to her. I shrugged. “Pretty much.” The bubbly teen girls barely had the chance to put a dent in it before I swooped in and snagged their stash. She sighed from where she was hovering above me. I jolted in shock when she suddenly lowered herself to the wet sand next to me, the water immediately soaking into her frayed cutoffs and swirling around her ankles and hips as she copied my pose, my empty bottle caught between her feet. She leaned forward, rested her cheek on her knee, and gazed at me steadily out of those mesmerizing eyes. “I tried to tell your mother this was hopeless. I warned her there is no helping someone who doesn’t want to be helped. I don’t want to be here, Cable.” Her voice was hard, and I was surprised that her admission hurt a little bit. I didn’t want to be around me most of the time, but I was used to other people flocking to me, vying for my attention. “I don’t want to be here, but I have to be, so that means you’re stuck with me no matter how difficult you decide to make the next couple of months. I don’t have a choice.” I wanted a cigarette. I needed something to occupy my hands and my mouth. I’d left the smokes and m y t-shirt on the steps of the deck off dad’s house. The steps led to the beach, just a few feet from the water. It was a beautiful house on a prime piece of property. With Affton here, it was nothing more than an expensive jail cell. I knew exactly what means my mother had gone to in order to get Affton to agree to this madness. She told me outright she was blackmailing my former classmate, I think in a thinly veiled attempt to make me care about someone else’s future if I wouldn’t care about my own. I knew if I drove Affton away, her father would lose his job. It wasn’t fair, but my mom had been nothing short of ruthless in her pursuit of my sobriety. “My mom can be very convincing when she puts her mind to it.” She could also be tough as nails and immovable when she wanted something. Affton snorted and shifted so her chin was resting on her knee instead of her cheek. She looked out over the endless landscape of water and sky, and I shivered even though it wasn’t cold. I lifted a hand to run it through my hair. My unease lived inside of me, crawled all around my bones and under my skin. I wasn’t used to it making its way to the surface because of someone else. There was a lot unsaid between me and this girl. The few words we’d exchanged were powerful, important ones that hung heavy between us. It was so much easier when I looked at her, and she refused to look back. “I don’t think convincing is the word I would use…more like conniving. Either way, she tied my hands, so succeed or fail, you are stuck with me until the end of summer. Let’s get you into the house so you can sleep this bottle off and pray you don’t get popped for a piss test tomorrow.” She grabbed the bottle from where she had plunked the base in the sand and lifted a pale eyebrow at me. “You should have picked something…” she trailed off and gave me a shrug. “Less wussy to enjoy your last binge with. This stuff tastes like toothpaste.” She offered me her free hand, and for a second all I could picture was grabbing it and pulling her under with me, letting the water cover us both and take us somewhere we would both rather be. I didn’t. I took her hand and struggled to my feet. Months of forced sobriety tumbled away under the wash of cinnamon whiskey. I wobbled and almost went back down, but before I could nose dive into the shallow water, Affton was there, arm around my waist, empty bottle pressed into my side, a chilly reminder that I’d already fucked this up and it was only the first day. I had no idea how either one of us was going to survive the summer, and if we did, I had no idea how I was supposed to survive beyond that when I was once again left to my own devious and duplicitous devices.

TOO Enchanting (LEWIS COUSINS #4) BY BETHANY LOPEZ
REVIEW BY THERESA ESTERLINE

Not your average girl next door...

Couldn't put this one down!  Of course, I've been a fan of the Lewis cousins for a while now!  They love each other, tease each other, and watch out for each other.  Finally Serena, their long lost cousin is returning.  But dig living away from Cherry Springs turn into an ice princess?  The cousins have also adopted two new 'cousins' into the fold, and as it turns out Jed, one of the new cousins, will be Serena's new neighbor.  And now a bit about the story...

Serena has just moved into her new place and can't wait to get started at her new job - getting the gallery ready to open!  Except her new HOT neighbor seems to be a little rude.  If only she could place him.  And why does he have to be sooo rude when he looks sooo good.  But it doesn't take long to discover she already knows him.  Jed, one of her cousins friend, turns out to be her neighbor.  After a few cold shoulder moments they decide maybe their first impressions were wrong and before you know it they are lip locked.  That is until Serena's high school nemesis comes to town.  Will Kylie bring out the snob in Serena and turn off Jed?  Or will Kylie's easy on the eyes persona kick Serena to the curb?

Favorite passages:

 - “Yeah, just treat her right, and you can live,
 - “Oh my gosh, why do you always catch me during my most embarrassing moments?”

REVIEW BY THERESA ESTERLINE

Temptations, temptations...

Funny romance with a hint of drama. I enjoyed the story being told from both perspectives. The budding romance tempted or main characters, while the red vines tempted me and I'm sad to say I didn't have any on hand. And now a bit about the story...

Imagine signing up to volunteer at your nephew's summer camp, but you get the dates mixed up. Now to make sure this is really Camp Gabriel Lewis and not Camp Crystal Lake! On the other hand, imagine seeing a beautiful and lost woman wondering around your camp. Gabe had a strict no girl or boy friends at the camp start up, but Zoey was about to break many of his rules...

Favorite passages:
- It looked like that’s what we had to do for the good things in life … wait.
- I guess you didn’t know what you were missing until you had a taste of it.

Camp may be over, but the Complications are just getting started!!

Too Complicated picks up shortly after Too Tempting ends. You could read this standalone, but knowing the history I appreciated reading them in order. This is a crazy funny story, I laughed out loud countless times. It is tender and loving, daring, complicated, with a touch of frustration. And now a bit about the story...

The Lewis and Zahn clans are both back and now living in Cherry Springs. A few cousins still haven't moved back full time, but most are back. This story features Chloe and Reardon, but has carryover for Gabe and Zoey, plus hints at what's coming next. Reardon has loved Chloe since he first saw her 14 years ago, but she picked Gabe. Football stud over geeky lawyer, story of his life... But she was back and Gabe was taken. Now to work his magic on her before someone else snatches her up first!

Favorite passages:
- “You can’t just roll over at her feet and beg her to scratch your belly. Women like a challenge.”
- “Baby, win or lose, I’ll mount anything you’d like.”

Pranks can be harmless...

The Lewis Cousins are back! Two of the five have met their match and next up is Dillon. This story will have you laughing, angry with the bad boyfriend and evil parents, and hoping for forgiveness. As in any relationship, communication is key! Though these two dance around they are also pretty direct, so nice change of pace. And now a bit about the story...

Dillon has the house, he wants kids, now just to find the right woman. Also back in town is his sister's best friend, she tortured him with her pranks and now he's agreed to help her with her business plan. Laurel drives him crazy, he tries to avoid her at all costs. Of course then he saw her in the bar without knowing it was he and thought about taking her home. Then there was that dress she wore to their last meeting. Lord she was going to kill him! If you remember from book 2, Laurel has been in love with Dillon since she was nine. Can he get over the pranks???

Favorite passage: Oh my God, I can’t believe I just did that, seemed to be my theme of the night.

Stars: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Chasing their changing dreams...

Lovely story of taking leaps. You will laugh, cry, and scream along with the characters. Primarily based in Paris, you may pick up a little French, ooh la la!! I think I could feel the strain in my calves every time Joy ventured to her apartment and I could see all the curiosities Griffin was pointing out. It almost felt as though I was waking, running, biking along the Parisian boulevards and rues with them. And now a bit about the story...

Joy is transferred to Paris by her company. She's tried to learn the language in advance, but there are just some crazy idiosyncrasies. Like there is one excited for woo hoo and another for excited 'down there', and Joy has opportunities to use both. Her company has hired a translator to accompany her part time, as translating scientific terms can be a challenge. Griffin turns out not only to be the hot Frenchman she met the day before, but also her British translator. As they struggle over crossing the line between professional and lovers, they truly get to know each other and fall for each other. Now if only they could decide to do something about it.

Favorite passages:
- I learned what’s truly valuable in real estate is how many people you let have a key.
- “Maybe you’ve spent the last few years doing what you thought you should, and now it’s time to do what you want.”
- That’s like asking her to live an unscented life.
- There’s only one hot Frenchman I want, and he’s British, too.
- “... before I was whacked with the it’s-so-damn-obvious stick.” “Did it hurt?” she asks playfully,...
- “Everything’s better together,”
- “I learned then that some things are right in front of us, and we just have to look up.”

EXCERPT:

~GRIFFIN~
There’s one word a woman can utter that gets a man’s blood flowing south instantly.
Okay. That’s not true.
There are about twenty thousand that produce that effect, because when you fancy a woman, nearly anything remotely sexy can drive you crazy with desire for her.
Imagine if she says, I’m going to take off a sock.
Boom. Implied nudity. Hard as a rock.
Perhaps she asks, Do you like strawberries?
Obviously that means she wants me to eat them off her breasts. Flagpole raised.
But then there are some that are so direct, so spot on, she might as well be saying, I’d like you to fuck me hard all night long.
Which, for the record, might possibly be my favorite thing a woman could ever say to me. In fact, I might need to make that my own personal addendum to the bucket list.
At the moment, though, the word is proposition.
As I walk to the restaurant Joy has chosen on Rue de Bac, I keep replaying that deliciously inviting message.
I have a proposition for you.
What could it possibly be but some fantastic arrangement where we shag all night and still get along for work? No strings, no pain, no heartbreak. Sign me up right-the-hell now. That would be fantastic. A promise of orgasm-drenched nights, capped off by an uncomplicated good-bye when I take off for Indonesia in a few more months, finally visiting the places around the world Ethan and I marked on a map when we were younger.
As I round the corner, Christian’s words have the temerity to appear in the forefront of my brain.
Don’t you make the same mistake. You can’t mix business and pleasure. We’re lucky to have the jobs we have.
We are lucky to have our jobs. I don’t disagree with his basic premise, but I doubt Joy’s proposition will jeopardize mine. Besides, I really only need to keep my job for the next two and a half months. That’s all she needs me for at her company, and then I’m gone. Who knows where I’ll end up after I take off on my great adventure? We made so many marks on that map. If I found it, it’d be full of pinholes, I’m sure.
Travel everywhere, Ethan wrote.
He can’t. So I must.
There’s simply no way that Joy’s have hot sex with me every single night starting now will interfere with my bigger plans. I can juggle business and pleasure. I can enjoy the woman, the gig, and the checking off of each item on the bucket list.
When I reach the door of Gabriel’s, a restaurant started by a French-Brazilian cook who’s now become a rock star chef in New York City, I’m more certain than ever that I can have my cake and eat it, too. Preferably off Joy’s soft supple belly.
With that enticing image front and center, I smooth a hand down my black shirt, push open the door, and head inside.

WHDK cover FINAL_1

On the northeast side of town, there is a house. The house was once magical, filled with love and joy and plans for the future. Inside its walls are many things that belong to me — my books, the china from my mother on my wedding day, the beautiful cage once home to two birds, now empty, just like me. And a man. A man who also belongs to me. A man I no longer wish to keep. A man who, no doubt, has not slept, though the sun is rising. Because the house where he waits is where I laid my head to rest every night for eight years. Until last night. No one who knows me would believe Charlie Pierce, the quiet, bookish girl who never made waves is pulling out of the driveway of a man who isn’t her husband. But they don’t know me at all. I don’t even know me. Not anymore. They say there are two sides to every story, and I suppose in most cases, that’s true. But the one I live inside of? It has three. On the northeast side of town, there is a house. But there is no longer a home.

What He Doesn’t Know by Kandi Steiner
Review by Theresa Esterline
Stars: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Loss changes everyone...

Heartbreaking tale of an assumed unrequited love, followed by bliss, happiness, and heartbreak. The story is based at a private school in a small Pennsylvania neighborhood. Mostly told from two perspectives, but a third voice does emerge. Our three characters have a lot of pain from their past to bring to this first book of the duet. Looking forward to the conclusion. And now a bit about the story...

Charlie and Cameron have fallen into a few patterns, naturally after eight years of marriage. Until a new teacher, Reece, shows up to teach music at the school Charlie teaches kindergarten. Reece also happens to be her first love, her brother's best friend, and the boy next door. But due to a five year age gap, Reece left for NYC when Charlie was only 16. Fantasy and lots of taking is all they'd ever had. Now 14 years later, at 30 and 35 age isn't the barrier, Charlie's husband is...

Favorite passages:
- Charlie Pierce, the girl who always said yes.
- The boundaries that used to exist between us had vanished, but the new ones that had taken their place were made of steel, lined with barbed wire, drenched in warning to keep clear.
- No one is the same once they lose someone they love.

A New York Times, #1 Wall Street Journal, and USA Today bestselling author of over twenty novels, Meghan March has been known to wear camo face paint and tromp around in woods wearing mud-covered boots, all while sporting a perfect manicure. She’s also impulsive, easily entertained, and absolutely unapologetic about the fact that she loves to read and write smut. Her past lives include slinging auto parts, selling lingerie, making custom jewelry, and practicing corporate law. Writing books about dirty talking alpha males and the strong, sassy women who bring them to their knees is by far the most fabulous job she’s ever had. Review: First Time Lucky

First Time Lucky First Time Lucky by Chance Carter
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Life isn't always sunshine and rainbows...

Shane and Dallas grew up together and had been good friends. But as time passed things changed. This is a great story about love, passion, corruption, jealousy, resilience, and satisfaction. A modern day small town take on Romeo and Juliet with less death. And now a bit about the story...

Shane has decided it is time he asks Dallas out on a date. The first time it is great, but doesn't have the ending he had planned and by the time he tries again, it's too late. Now Dallas is stuck in an impossible situation. Shane is shipped off to NYC, with institutions never to return. But never is a short mission for Shane and he means business when he returns...

Favorite passages:
- “Your last surprise was a phone call saying you’d been chased across the country by a small town psychopath,” she commented. “Not sure I’m ready for the follow up to that.”
- “Excuse me, sir,” I said, sauntering up to him. “Do you know where I could get a good screw around here?”
- “Because a man who demands affection doesn’t deserve it.”
- “I never worry about myself. I can’t decide whether it’s a strength or a downfall.”
