Underage witches, a breakout from demon prison and a new hellgate... What could go wrong?

Reaper extraordinaire, Laney Larson, is stuck in Liberty, Oakwood of all places, for two reasons. One, there's way more paranormal activity going on than normal for a little town like Liberty. And two, a sexy as hell cop called Troy.

So when the proverbial hits the fan and they get wind of a demon break-out from the third hell, a prison even the demon king himself won't set foot in, what's a reaper to do but strap on her blades and help track the escapee down? But then the creature takes her man, and all bets are off.

A reaper, a demon and a cop...will Death claim them all, or just one?

This book is part of the "Liberty, Oakwood" Series:
#1. The Reaper and the Cop
#2. Dead Reaper Walking

Catch Book 1 here:

Death's big business. For Laney Larson, it's a full time job.

The latest in a long line of Reapers, Laney hits Liberty, Oakwood expecting the usual 'reap and run' type of job. However the small town holds far more secrets than she expects, including a sexy cop who blind-sides her reaper instincts big-time.

Liberty. It used to be a nice town until the things that go bump in the night moved in.

Detective Troy Regan moved to Liberty to claw back a little of his soul after working homicide in the big city. But the sleepy little down has problems of the paranormal kind and it's police department have gone from calls about lost cats to Boggarts in the basement. Then the seriously nasty stuff moved in.

Sparks fly when a sexy Reaper meets a hot as hell Cop...

Troy's not sure exactly what flavor of paranormal Laney is, but he doesn't care. She's tiny, delicate and gorgeous. When he finds a Lycan looming over her in an alley, all his protective instincts flare up. He needs to get her home, keep her safe...in his bed.

But is she the answer he's been looking for to fill the empty spot in his heart, or the most dangerous creature he's ever met?

I HEART BOOKS REVIEW

The walking dead never looked so good!

And what a ways she has with her blades and bike! This was a fast paced, demon hunting trip to save Liberty. I love that the woman was the "hero" of the story unlike the normal man riding in on a white horse. This time our hero was a woman riding on a partially alive motorcycle. It also brought a few new sides of our heroine out that she wasn't aware of. I'll not ruin the surprise here, but just know I was as shocked as she! And now a bit about the story...

Laney is new to Liberty, Oakwood. Between rescuing herself from a werewolf and later killing him, she found Troy - the police office who she fell for quickly. Except in her line of work she usually ran from the law. So before the rest of his squad could get there, she split. Only to run into the next day after setting a few souls free... see Laney is a reaper. Though she doesn't kill people, she does set the dead's soul free. Can she really make it work with someone who is set on protecting people and saving every life possible? What's worse is a demon is headed to town and his threat may split them in two...

Favorite passages:
- Troy believed in respecting a woman. Treating her like a princess. But that didn’t mean it was all rainbows and unicorns.
- “Oh, it gets worse.” ... “Not the words I want to hear.” “Suck it up, buttercup.” I shrugged. [Laney says to the big bad Reilly - love the use of "buttercup" to describe the captain!]
- We were on a dude-in-distress, white knight rescue, horse not required. I opened the throttle and the town became a blur.

The Reaper and the Cop (Liberty, Oakwood #1) by Mina Carter

Explosively dangerous and hot!

Great start to a new series.  We meet the main characters as they encounter each other for the first time.  The heroine is funny, blunt, sexy, and scary all bundled into one.  The hero is protective, tall, muscled, and sexy.  Together they make an explosive pair!! And now a bit about the story...

Laney had just arrived at the local after hours cop shop, she found this the best place to scope out the next job.  But she didn't want to attrack any attention, so when she saw the young, sexy, and attentive cop she headed out.  She headed thru the alley to the side street where her bike waited.  The Lycan that left in front of her was of no worry to her, but of course the attentive cop didn't know that.  As her as the Were were getting their punches in, he came running to the rescue.  At least for now...

Favorite passages:
- No, I was looking for Detective Young and Driven, with Something to Prove.
- Sometimes a new Reaper can’t adjust and they go nutso.  When that  happens you have to go hunt that sucker and revoke his Reaper card.
- “Come into the parlor, said the spider to the fly.”  Already through the door ahead of him, she shot a glance over her shoulder.  “Are you sure you’re the spider? Or the fly?”
- “My dad always told me that a good hunter chases, but a great hunter waits for the prey to come to him.”
- He’d known her all of three hours, still wasn’t sure what she was, but one thing he did know… He’d do anything to bind her to him, to keep her at his side forever.
- My breathing roared in my ears again. How frigging loud does that seem when you’re trying to hear something as quiet as a mouse fart three rooms away?

Mina was born and raised in the East Farthing of Middle Earth (otherwise known as the Midlands, England) and spend her childhood learning all the sorts of things generally required of a professional adventurer. Able to ride, box, shoot, make and read maps, make chainmail and use a broadsword (with varying degrees of efficiency) she was disgusted to find that adventuring is not considered a suitable occupation these days.
So, instead of slaying dragons and hunting vampires and the like, Mina spends her days writing about hot shifters, government conspiracies and vampire lords with more than their fair share of RAWR. Turns out wanna-be adventurers have quite the turn of imagination after all...
(But she keeps that sword sharp, just in case the writing career is just a dream and she really *is* an adventurer.)
The boring part: A full time author and cover artist, Mina can usually be found hunched over a keyboard or graphics tablet, frantically trying to get the images and words in her head out and onto the screen before they drive her mad. She's addicted to coffee and would like to be addicted to chocolate, but unfortunately chocolate dislikes her.
